리틀(little)은 작다는 뜻이고, 히어로(hero)는 영웅이란 뜻으로 크고 위대한 느낌을 줍니다.
상반된 의미를 이어 제목으로 붙인 것이 흥미로웠습니다.
이 영화에 나오는 버니는 몸집도 작고 삶을 사는 방식도 흔히 볼 수 있는 소시민입니다.
하지만 그 볼품없어 보이는 이혼남 버니의 내면에는 영웅적인 면모가 숨어 있었습니다.
비행기가 추락한 사고 현장을 우연히 지나쳤다고 해서 누구나 불길이 번지는 비행기의 문을 열고 사람들을 구하기는 어렵습니다.
버니가 진정한 영웅인 이유는 본능적으로 사람들을 구해놓고 자신이 영웅임을 알리려 하지 않았다는 것입니다.

An airplane crashes.
The main character, Bernie, is divorced from his wife and doesn't see his beloved son often.
He works at a factory, stealing from others, and naturally lies to get out of trouble.
Bernie happens to walk by the scene of an airplane crash and accidentally saves Gail's life.
But he's also desperate for money, so he swipes Gail's card.
Bernie's mantra was to live quietly and unnoticed.
Little does he know that this will make him a hero.

Bernie gives his shoe to John for helping him into the car.
Gail, in the spirit of professionalism, puts out a huge media ad to find the unsung hero who saved her life.
Since it's dark and she can't see his face from the accident, the only evidence is the person with the other shoe.
John goes with Bernie's shoe, meets Gail, and goes from homeless to a heroic citizen of America.
But after seeing John attempt suicide out of guilt, Bernie visits him and encourages him to continue being a hero.
He tells him that all he needs is money for his son's college tuition.
'Little Big Hero' scene 3
Gail visits Bernie after losing her credit card, but she doesn't believe him.
Gail has already made a hero out of John, a likable guy who was homeless but had served in the Vietnam War.
By comparison, Bernie, an eccentric, divorced man, appears to Gail to be a liar with a history of pickpocketing who swiped her cards when he was desperate for money.
Gail, who has won awards for her reporting, knows the physiology of the press better than anyone.
In the movie's final scene, Gail thanks Bernie for his support.
Even though Gale knew that the true hero who saved himself and about 50 others was Bernie, he tacitly acknowledged John as the hero.
Reflections on Little Big Hero
Little means small, and hero means heroic, which makes it feel big and great.
I thought it was interesting that the title was chosen to connect these opposite meanings.
In this movie, Bernie is a small citizen, both in size and in the way he lives his life.
However, underneath this seemingly unremarkable divorced man, Bernie had a heroic side.
Not everyone who happens to walk by the scene of a plane crash is going to open the doors of an airplane in flames and save people.
What makes Bernie a true hero is that he instinctively saved people and didn't try to make it known that he was a hero.
